In my early Christian walk, I remember being wrapped in loneliness. I had this newfound truth. God opened my eyes to see His Word, Knowledge, and Truth, yet many of my friends at the time were not walking in the same fruit. I had one close girlfriend, and that was sweet, but God knows we’re not made to band with just one person. We’re made to band and link arms with a team of women.
So I prayed. I began to see God removing some friends. I also saw Him sprinkling some Christian friends in my life, but by the time we started to develop a close bond, they moved away.
It took a couple years, but as I continued removing myself from secular circles, God began to bring women who became lifelong sisters.
He gifted me with more than just girlfriends. He provided sisters of faith who desired the prophetic giftings I already walked in. What I really needed were women who were hungry & thirsty for the Lord as much as I am. I was blessed with answered prayers.
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24-25
Honestly, I don’t know how I can do life without these women. My hope is you also have a safe place where you can encounter women such as these. Do you need this in your life?
Here are ways this prophetic sisterhood has changed my life:
1.) They intercede with prayer for you…even when you forget you need it.
I was having a weird down day. I had yet to disclose it to anyone. In what seemed like the perfect pause in time, I receive a text from a girlfriend, “Hey – how are you doing? The Holy Spirit prompted me to think of you and I’ve been praying for you.” In a matter of emergency, I called her and she prayed right in that moment. No questions asked. It only takes 2 minutes to say a prayer, and those two minutes can change someone’s attitude for the rest of the day!
2.) They can help give you confirmation from God.
Without telling a girlfriend too much detail, I asked if she could pray and ask God if I could attend a conference this weekend. I wanted to be sure I heard from God correctly since I had a strong, overwhelming desire to go to this conference. I kept hearing “No.” Without telling her what God’s reply to me was, she told me she asked Him three times and replied “Patty, it’s BIG FAT NO.” LOL. Okaaayy…well there’s my answer! My hope was that it would be a “yes.” Having her pray and give me the confirmation meant the world. It meant He had other plans for this upcoming weekend. I know it wasn’t the answer I wanted to hear, however having a heart for God means to walk in His obedience.
3.) They are more forgiving & allow you to grow
As walking prophetics, we may hear God more than others, however, it doesn’t mean we are perfect. Sometimes, we do things against God’s nature and God’s will. What is best about this sisterhood is they understand this one fact: When Christ is in you, you become a WIP (work in progress) daily to become closer to His image. When you make mistakes and forget to call out your own faults, they will quickly forgive and secretly pray for you.
4.) They come equipped with specific words from the heart of God.
During another session of prophetic prayer, several of my girlfriends wrote down what they were hearing and seeing from the heart of God. At least half of the group saw or heard from God a writing platform and a speaking platform sometime in the future. I knew I had a call to write. A speaking platform was only a vision I had and God was able to give more encouragement based on what these women downloaded from the Lord. They gifted me hope & confidence God was going to use me in a greater season to speak and minister. I thought maybe my vision was my wild imagination, but after hearing these specific words, my vision became a glimpse of a future that will come to pass.
Do you have a prophetic circle like the one I mentioned? Do you desire for something like this?
Stayed tuned, I will be bringing the prophetic meeting rooms soon! A virtual gathering where sisters in Christ of like mind, like heart, like spirit and soul, can gather and pray prophetic prayers.
“Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor:
If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.
Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?
Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
