Natural DIY Facial Serum

Over the last several years, information regarding the use of chemicals and toxins in your everyday beauty products have made public headlines, and more consumers like myself are determined to find natural alternatives. This winter, and especially after the birth of my son, my skin welcomed flakes, bumps, dryness, and dullness. I took for granted my dewy, flawless, T-zone complexion, and so I prayed the Lord will bring it back!

First, God revealed to me the need to take care of my body with simple things, like drink more water, eat healthier, and exercise.

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. (1 Cor 6:19-20)

And while I’m in the process of taking care of my physical well being, I am grateful for His natural abundance He has created on this earth. This DIY facial serum costs less than the premium, high shelf, brand name product you will find on the market, but yet the same benefits are reaped. While I can try to be a good steward of my body, I might as well be a good steward of my finances too, right? Absolutely!

Fortunately, this is not complicated and contains 3 ingredients: Squalane, Rose oil, and Myrrh oil.

  • Squalane is an olive oil derivative, found in many cosmetic products. It is an antioxidant in a bottle! It prevents UV damage, age spots, and it has made my skin smoother, softer, and supple. I recently traveled out of town without this baby by accident, and my skin paid the price! You can get a bottle of this for approximately $10. Get your bottle here.
  • Rose Oil: First, I would like to state I purchase my oils from Young Living. If you have not heard of them before, they are one of the few companies I trust, as they grow their own plants to produce their oils. They handle their oils from the ground up! I suffer from acne from time to time, and rose oil will help combat acne. It also has properties to reduce redness, so that stubborn area around my nose where it tends to get red is not as apparent as it once was.  Not only is rose effective for combating skin issues, it smells heavenly!  A couple drops of this in my bottle of Squalane and I’m golden! Beware, rose oil does come at a steep price at the membership level, but by only using 2 drops at a time, you have cheap, quality serum for years to come! See cost breakdown here.
  • Myrrh Oil: Why not reap the benefits of one of the gifts given to Jesus? If Jesus used it, I sure will! Myrrh is known for its antioxidant and antibacterial properties. It is also known to heal chapped and cracked skin. Maintain your skin and prevent aging like how the Ancient Egyptians did! I used about three drops in my Squalane bottle.

Once my natural serum was made, I blend it with my moisturizer or apply it before my moisturizer in the morning and evening. I hope you are encouraged to seek God’s  raw natural resources He created for us to enjoy. God bless!
